General Lee's Field Desk

Lee's Headquarters at Gettysburg.jpg

Field desks have been used by military officers throughout much of history.  Typically carried in the supply train behind the advanced troops, the desks would be set up in the commander's headquarters as camp was being set up.  General Lee's headquarters was located on Seminary Ridge in the home of the widow Mary Thompson.  The small stone house still stands today, having been restored in 2014 bye the Civil War Trust.
